Warkworth in Northumberland is a fabulous dog friendly area to visit. The beaches are fantastic in this area as a whole and parking is mostly free. We stay in Warkworth Village which has 3 dog friendly pubs in the village itself, all serve food.
Warkworth House Hotel is also dog friendly and dogs are allowed in the bar area where food is also served. You can order from the restaurant menu and the friendly staff will just bring it through to you. They offer bed and breakfast, again breakfast can be served in the bar area which has plenty of space for your sighthound to rest their weary legs.
Bertram’s next door is a fabulous dog friendly cafe (now offering accommodation) with the most delicious homemade cakes and a little selection of gin’s to wet your appetite if you fancy! They also offer a great full English.
We find Warkworth the perfect spot to use as a base, heading out exploring the area for the day and no driving needed in the evenings. It has everything you need. There is a lovely riverside walk for evening ‘walkies’ and the beach is just a few minutes drive away.
Coquet Cottages offer many dog friendly cottages and are to a very high standard. Its our favourite place to be and visit as often as we can. Enjoy!14/06/2018 at 9:21 pm #898whippetrealgoodParticipant
Yes! We love it too! We stayed in Walkmill Campsite there a couple of years ago. It’s a small and friendly site with about 12 tent pitches along the river and spaces for campers/ caravans.
It’s not far to Alnwick for supplies and the lovely second hand bookshop Barter Books, which is also dog-friendly.
